Texture Sprayer
A texture sprayer applies drywall texture, plaster, and heavy-bodied finishes by spraying aggregate-laden material through large orifices. Machines range from hopper guns on compressors to piston-pump rigs feeding long hoses.

Fonctionnement
Texture material feeds by gravity from a hopper or by pump from a barrel to a gun with interchangeable large-bore tips. Air or pump pressure atomizes the material into a spatter pattern; orifice, pressure, and material thickness set the texture from fine orange peel to heavy knockdown. Consistent mix viscosity is the difference between an even ceiling and rework.
Types et variantes
- Hopper guns
- Gravity-fed compressor guns for rooms and patchwork.
- Piston-pump texture rigs
- Continuous-feed machines for whole-house production.
- Specialty finish sprayers
- Units for acoustic, plaster, and decorative finishes.
Spécifications clés
| Spécification | Plage typique | Signification |
|---|---|---|
| Application type | Varies by model | Orange peel, splatter, knockdown, and acoustic textures ask different orifice and pressure setups. |
| Feed system | Hopper or pump | Gravity hoppers for batch work, pumps for continuous production. |
| Power source | Varies by model | Compressor-driven guns versus engine or electric pump rigs. |
Comment l'industrie le dimensionne
Machines scale by feed capacity: hopper guns for patches and single rooms, pump rigs with material hoses for production ceilings and whole units. Fourteen recorded models span both classes.
Applications
- Spraying orange peel and knockdown wall texture
- Acoustic and ceiling texture application
- Plaster and stucco base and finish coats
- Patch blending into existing textures
Sécurité et opération
- Overhead spraying rains material; eye protection and full coverage are working conditions, not options.
- Texture dust from mixing and sanding carries silica in some products; wet mixing and masks apply.
- Scaffolds and stilts used in ceiling work carry their own fall-protection rules.
Normes et certifications
- OSHA · 29 CFR 1926.1153
- Silica controls where texture products contain crystalline silica.
- OSHA · 29 CFR 1926.302(b)
- Compressed-air equipment requirements for hopper guns.
