Fonctionnement

A blower draws room air through the filter stack; HEPA media captures 99.97 percent of particles at 0.3 microns and carbon adsorbs odors and VOCs. Ducted out of a sealed containment, the same machine becomes a negative air machine, holding the workspace below ambient pressure so contamination cannot escape.

Types et variantes

Air Scrubber
Filtration unit with HEPA and carbon stages that cleans particulate and odor from air.
Patient Isolation Systems
Negative-pressure enclosures used to isolate spaces in healthcare settings.

Comment choisir

Air changes per hour (ACH) drive machine count: target ACH times room volume, divided by unit airflow. Restoration and mold work commonly targets 4-6 ACH; healthcare and abatement containments follow their governing protocols. Filter loading is monitored — capture falls as filters blind.

Normes et certifications

IICRC · S520
Standard for professional mold remediation, including containment and air filtration.
ASHRAE · Standard 62.1
Ventilation and indoor air quality guidance referenced when conditioning occupied spaces.

Questions fréquentes

What is the difference between an air scrubber and a negative air machine?
Configuration of the same machine. Recirculating in a room, it scrubs; ducted out of a sealed containment, it creates negative pressure that keeps dust and spores inside the work zone.
How many scrubbers does a space need?
Enough combined airflow to hit the target air changes per hour — room volume times target ACH, divided by 60, gives the required cfm, split across units.
What do patient isolation systems add?
Sealed anteroom-and-envelope structures with HEPA-filtered negative pressure, converting standard rooms into isolation spaces during surges and renovations in healthcare facilities.
