Rough Terrain Crane
A rough terrain crane is a mobile crane on a single-engine, four-wheeled carrier with large flotation tires, built to lift on uneven or unprepared ground. It travels around the jobsite under its own power but is not road-legal, moving between sites by trailer. The catalog lists 222 models from brands including Grove, Tadano, Link-Belt, XCMG and Sany.

Cómo funciona
One engine drives both travel and crane functions. Four-wheel drive and crab or four-wheel steering move the crane across mud, gravel and slopes to the pick location, where outriggers extend and level the machine before the telescopic boom lifts. Many models also carry a reduced pick-and-carry chart for moving loads short distances on tires. The operator works from a single cab that both drives and lifts, following the load chart for the configured boom length, counterweight and outrigger spread, with the rated-capacity limiter monitoring every pick.

Selection works backwards from the heaviest lift and its radius on the load chart, then confirms boom length for the required hook height and checks site access and ground bearing for the outrigger footprint.

- Minimum power-line clearances per OSHA 1926.1407-1411 are maintained, with a dedicated spotter near energized lines.
- Outriggers are fully extended on mats sized for the ground; partially set outriggers require the matching reduced chart.
- Ground conditions are assessed after weather changes — the crane's off-road mobility does not remove the need for stable bearing under the outriggers.
